New Zealand early childhood curriculum (Te Whariki He Whariki Matauranga mo nga Mokopuna o Aotearoa

We believe it is essential to incorporate the principles of the New Zealand early childhood curriculum (Te Whariki He Whariki Matauranga mo nga Mokopuna o Aotearoa – The Stands of the Woven Web for the Children of New Zealand). We understand and embrace our unique bicultural heritage which is founded on the Treaty of Waitangi and know that our children have a right to experience the languages, music, art and stories of the cultures of Aotearoa. We believe it is important to value and respect the diversity within our centre and promote this in the community and to our tamariki. We are committed to ongoing professional development and on-going evaluation to ensure we are meeting the needs of our children and Whanau, ensuring we offer a high-quality program. We strive to offer a calm, relaxed environment where children can develop at their own pace and feel safe and secure, knowing we will meet their needs . We believe each child has unique strengths. We work inclusively to ensure children’s learning is not limited by age, gender, ethnicity or background. We value each child’s language, culture and individual identity and encourage contribution from all tamariki, kaiako, and whanau

Physical Exercise

We take several of the older children to North Harbour Gymnastic (a 5 minute walk around the corner from us) once a week which helps them to learn, to listen, to follow instructions, various physical and mental skills, just to name a few. We are located next to Party Kingdom, and are lucky enough to be able to take the children to exercise and play privately with their facilities – which is great on rainy days!
